Spark plugs and gap 81-83 gl1100

I have an 81 gl1100. I have recently purchased an 83 gl1100 engine. Due to unforeseen circumstance i had to pull engine out of the 81 due to crack in piston. Found the engine out of the 83 cheaper then the parts to fix 81. So i swapped just engines. Which so far has brought to my attention a couple small differences, being clutch actuator design and cable length, and no the spark plugs. Which i didnt realize till like two days ago. the 81 calls for DPR8ES-L at .028 gap, the 83 calls for DPR8EA-9 at .035 gap. i have also done the coil conversion to run with the neon coil pack. Now my two questions are if i run with the 83 plugs can i run with an even larger gap due to the neon coil seeing in the post of doing to conversion it says to widen the gap of the 81 plugs from .028 to .035??? And second question the haynes manual says for extended high speed diving switch to D9EA. what is considered extended high speed??? I am going on a trip next week that will be approx 6 hours of driving at highway speeds? Should i switch to the different plugs?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
