i am getting ready to check valves and pulled plugs 123 are gray looking and 4 is a little black looking not wet.have not checked valves yet. what do i check for.it runs allright i have felt a little miss at idle.but otherwise runs fine??

#4 sounds like it's running a little rich. Could be a high float or several things. Make sure you check the plugs after a good run, too much idle will make them sooty looking.

you may be right i just put in new fan thermo switch.and have been letting it idle.to see when fan kicks on.

It only take a little bit of crud to foul your jets. I would throw in some chemical cleaner and give her a good run then look at them and see what you have. Might change the whole story.
