spark plugs

in the honda book that comes with the bike, it lists 3 plug types, 7 is the standard, 6 is cold climate, 8 is high speed, is the no. 6 a hotter plug, or colder, i think my bike is pinging, only does it after warm up. i hear a nocking, have had mec. listen to it, he said not rod nocking. also wondering if alt bearing is bad,

All the metric plugs like NG and NGK the higher the Number the colder the plug. I use the colder plug D9EA for summer use have not tryed in the colder times of the year but i will try it this winter.
