The stock speakers are ok, do get me wrong here but I would like to get a more crisp sound with some thump. The stocks can only do so much. I'm assuming the stock ones are paper cones. Where can I get some really good replacements?

Polks and Sony Xplods are the most popular replacement speakers. You should be able to pick them up very easily.

sony explodes have a nice sound. You are correct in saying that the stock ones are just paper. :( I don't know why they made such a beautiful bike and didn't make them that water proof. The explodes should be able to deal with the rain just fine, I would put a coat of flexible clear coat or something on them though, just in case.

Sony Xplodes are marine grade totally waterproof, as are the Polks DB401s... I have both installed on my 1500. They have plastic/vinyl looking cone material, stand up well to rain & sun & don't need a coat of anything on 'em (IMO).
