GL1100...Converted to single carb, the 85mph speedo was bad,so put one off a GL1000,reads top end 160mph. Bike runs right along with fuel mileage around 34 to 40 mpg. Charlie G.

so, you're running a single carb on your 1100 with a 160 mph speedometer? around 65 mph, my 1100 with stock set up turns around 4200-4300 rpm's. I don't know if that helps...............

Sounds like my '80 GL1100...should be ok...converted it to one Weber earlier this year,it took 3 carbs before I got one that works well, off a '79 Chevvy Luv Pick up. It doesn't like cold weather, below 60f in the morning untill it warms up,but after that it idles at 1000-1100. Maychange to a hotter runningspark plug...Charlie G.
