My way of avoiding a speeding ticket is to use the Cruise Control whenever possible. I set the CC for the speed limit, and quit worrying about tickets, so I can enjoy the ride/drive. I've been accident and ticket free for nearly 40 years this way.

I do much the same as Scott, I use the cruise a lot in my car, truck, and on my bike and for the same reason, to avoid accidently going too fast. Obviously it doesn't work in crowded traffic but it's a good way to avoid being tagged going too fast in residential areas.

I'm always surprised how many people think it's okay to do 45 in a 35 zone but wouldn't do 70 in a 60 zone. Usually it's the opposite since the lower speed limits are because the areas are more congested with more likelihood of someone stepping out into traffic, whereas most of the time on the higher speed road there's less chance someone walking out on the road.
