my speedo cable is making alot of noise. the only place i found a cable is on ebay. they said that the cables for the GL1100 are different from 1980 thru 1983. is this true.

they want $12.50 for model years 1981-1982, and $20.00 for 1980 GL1100.

Here's the actual Honda part numbers;

44830-463-000 Cable complete for 1980-83 (not for 83 Aspencade).
44831-463-000 Cable, inner for 1980-82 (not for 82 or 83 Aspencade).

I've checked this out a bit more and there are only two cables for the GL1100 supplied by Honda, as in my previous post. However some aftermarket mekers used to list a longer cable for the 1980 model for some odd reason.

I can't think of a single reason you would need a longer speedo cable. the front wheel and speedo never changes place with a fairing or ape hanger bars.

Well, I guess if you put some chopper forks on the front end....
