The speedometer needle on my 1500 is jumping when riding slowly. At around 20 mph it jumps between 20 & 30 but gradually gets better as the speed goes up. I suppose the fact that it is moving means the cable is okay?

Ben, It still might be the cable at fault. You will have to remove the inner cable and check it for broken strands or kinks.

Sounds like the cable is binding. When it binds it will cause the cableto jerk. Everytime it breaks free it causes the needle to jump up. You may try and lube it.

You were all on the money, cable was breaking up on the inside. Fitted new one yesterday and it's working fine now.
