Hi guys and gals.
I have a GL1000 1975 that was standing for 27 years. Did the carbs and got her running really well then at speed the starter clutch jumped in and grabbed the starter motor which exploded and pulled us up. She was still running with a horrible noise which turned out to be the starter motor spinning over. Has anyone ever had this happen?

That is a strange thing but I suppose it could happen. I would like to see pictures of the starter clutch when & if you take it apart.

The starter spun up to some ridiculous speed, pulling up the bike momentarily, the starter change now locked to the flywheel. All the brushes and stator parts of the motor flew to bits. Emptied out a heap of bits from the starter motor. The starter motor was stuck in gear.
