To test it off the bike, with a 12 volt battery...is this simple ?? and to be sure I don't damage anything how do I go about this ? So far I have had it apart three times and can't seem to find the problem...what sort of things should I look for that may be preventing it to work?? Everything cleaned up nice and went back together ok. I am curious about a wire in the houseing that touches the underside of the brush cover plate, the wire can be bent to make contact but I don't know for sure if it is supposed to make contact with the back of the brush cover plate.

If it cleaned up good and still doesn't perform I suggest dropping by a good local starterrepair shop and have them test it for you. Could be internal shorts in the windings. Even a shorted winding can spin under no load on the bench.:waving:Keno
