Many of you on the forum here were helpful inthe diagnosis of my starting promlem on my 1500. I determined that the starter relay (solenoid) A does not work and the starter is dead too. I took the starter to a great littlemotor shop in Syracuse todaywhere he is replacing bearings, installing new brush set and soldering the terminal post back to the field leads- all for $40. plus the$20. honda brushes.
I have a bid going on ebayright now forthe solenoid... hope to have everything together by end of next week.
The thing that bothers me is not knowingwhat the cause of the failure is- I am not sure but what something else was or is wrong and in my fiddleing around I damaged the starter! Does anyone have any thoughts on the fact that both the solenoid and the starter failed? And has anyone seen the terminal tab detach inside the motor housing?
BTW- the solenoid fails to close the circuit, so not it was not passing continuous power to the starter.
