70 watts doesn't sound like a lot, but any 1100s I seen on runs with fog lights often had to be push started after the petrol stops.
There were plenty of guys doing heavy duty rewinds some years back, you basically sent yours off as an exchange unit. Don't really know if they lasted the course.
