Strange Noise GL1500

This seems to come about every year when the cold starts. The first area I would look is the location where the speedo cable enters the the gear assembly on the front wheel. If I remember, a phillips head screw removes the cable. Spray some light oil inside the area of the gears.

My bike had similar issues last year and sounded like a radiator fan freezing up. Seems like the gears get a little dry and start to howl. Some one else may have some other things to check, but I would start with this first.

Thanks for the tip. In fact, it was the first cool day of riding this year when it first occured. BTW, I hail from that neck of the woods, originally. Thompson, GA

Speedo cable just replaced last season but greased the gear unit at the wheel and nothing more to date.



Moved off to Mississippi in the 60's, then to Texas in the 70's. Joined the Navy and lost my twang whiletravelling the world. I definitely do not type with an accent anymore
