I went for a ride this afternoon , got back on my bike, turned the key on, heard some very light rythmic ticking sound coming from around the igniton switch. anyone ever heard this sound? also my tailight indicator stays on from time to time when i go to start it, if i turn the key off and then back on it usually goes off. maybe a cruddy bulb?or could this be related to the ticking sound im hearing. any imput would be appreciated,, 84 1200A Hammer

The GL1200 has a known problem with ignition switches, the electrical part that goes onto the switch falls apart. You should check this out asap.

I think FitzAlis right. That light rhythmic ticking is probably arcing across electrical contacts in the ignition switch. The tail light staying on is another indication the switch isn't working right. It shouldn't be on unless the key is in therun or park positions.
