Sterling, take heart in the knowledge that these bolts are made of chocolate on the GL1200 as well. You can buy an aftermarket bolt with a 17mm head that will last forever. I got one when I wrecked the bolt on my GL1100 years ago (can't remember where, maybe someone will help out here). The bolt is not reverse-threaded.
