stupid headlight, almost tech, question on a 1992 1500 Aspencade

As I pulled up to my favorite restaurantlast night, I noticedthe reflection of my bike in the front window and it looked as if only one bulb was lit, so I hit my brights and two bulbs were lit. Is there only one bulb that lights for normal driving and then two bulbs light when you hit the brights? or do I have a burned out headlight bulb?

(Silly me, I thought there was only one bulb on the Goldwing, but apparently there are two)

You have one burned out.

You have two lights, and both have high and low beams.

Take the opportunity to change them both to Sylvania Silver Star Ultras.

I second Rudy's suggestion.

And you can get them in a twin pack for less than $40.

You will like them.

I'll second the SilverStar Ultra. Just wipe them with Isopropyl before installing and do not touch the glass part of the bulb after wiping it. Any fingerprints on the glass will shorten the bulbs life considerably. Bulbs are H4.

I like the standard H-4 or 9003 60/55 watt bulbs, been using them for over 16 years in GL1500's. They are reasonably priced and provide good lighting and service. Current ones have been in there about three years.

Great advice on the Silver Star Ultras. I have found that one bulb just does not cut it for night vision. The standard H-4 will most likely do the job, but after reading all of the posts on the Silver Star Ultra's I will spend the extra few dollars (probably just a couple tanks of gas worth of dollars) for the Ultra's. I have installed a trickle charger (1.5 to 2 amp) in one of the side cubbies and plug it in every night, so even if the alternator has to have a little help from the battery, the battery will be fully charged and ready. Wal-mart only stocks the standard H-4 so I will try my local Auto Zone tonight. Thank everyone again for your quick response.

On page # 3, "chris in va" made some comments about the Silver Star headlight bulbs.

However, I have no personal experience with them.

if you dont mind waiting a couple days you can usually pick up the ultras online @ ebay for about $20

put one in my sei and although it was an improvement over the stock bulb it wasn't as good as i expected since i'm spoiled by the HID i have installed in my 87

my driving lights are going to get an hid upgrade too since they show up as two yellow spots against my hid headlights
