Style, size......what is it about a motorcycle that turns your crank?

My largest bike was a '96 Aspencade, upon which I had fun for 80,000 miles....but it wasn't my favorite bike.....

My smallest bike was a'62 (?) 50 cc Honda Cub, upon which I had fun for..... oh, I dunno.... couple of thousand miles, maybe ....but it wasn't my favorite bike..... just my first ....

One of mymedium bikes was an old 78' Suzuki GS, In-Line four..... upon which I had a whole lotta fun for several thousand miles, until I traded it in for the one below... but the Suzuki 750 was real close to being my favorite bike.......

One of my larger bikes was a '81 Honda Interstate GL1100... upon which Red and I had a joyous touring life for nearly 160,000 miles... and which I think now was my favorite bike of all time, at least so far.......

One of my other medium bikes was a Honda 750 Nighthawk upon which I had a whole lot of fun, for a couple thousand miles..... until I sold it so I could get my current Kawasaki KLR 650 ..... and both bikes now rank right up there next to the old Suzuki 750 for 2nd favorite bikes of all time!

:cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1:

And then there's that sleek and silent ST1300, which feels a whole lot like the old GL1100, and which holds promise to be my favorite bike of all time, but, at only 11,800 miles on the ticker, it is still too early to tell......

What does this all mean?

Not a damn thing, other than my enjoyment of a bike doesn't seem to be linked to a size or a style! My enjoyment factor of a motorcycle seems to berelated to nothingother than an undefined, intuitive "feel........". Kind of like my choice in girlfriends (before Red, of course.......)

Until this year, I thought my '85 1200ltd was my favorite of all time, (still enjoy riding it, although it is for sale) but since getting my '01 ST1100, it is by far my favorite bike to ride, smooth, fast, quiet, handles like on rails, good looking, well designed and it gets better fuel mileage than the Goldwing.

Cheers, Geoff

I bought a brand new xl250 motosport back in 1972. I had more fun and memories on that bike than any since then, and I've had a ton of cycles in my lifetime but that ole XL250 is what I base all my bikes on now, I still can't seem to get the same fun factor now is I did back then.

It must be old age creeping up on me dangit.
I must say I do enjoy my old 82 gl1100 though.
It's not high tech but it gets me where I want to go.

I favorite bike of all time was the Honda XR75 that I grew up with. I had so many adventures while riding that bike and I would have to be beat to come in from riding it.

My next favorite would have to be the Yamaha 125 Enduro that replaced it when I got to big for it. I would ride it around town as well as out in the woods.

Like what was said, my current bike is usually my favorite but I doubt anything can ever replace the memories I have of my childhood and riding the XR. It's what stung me from the get go and will never let it die!

My favoritewas also my 78 Suzuki GS750. Bought it right off the showroom floor :action:That bike was a lot of fun to ride. I also had a Yamaha XS400 and a Honda 90.

So many, and so many memories.......

My first, '74 Honda Elsinore MR50 (still have it), got it for my 4th bday. Then the venerable ol' XR75. I remember that one mostly due to the foot peg assembly falling off on a jump once. Then my first 2-stroke, the YZ80 and how that thing screamed compared to my XR. First water cooler........my '82 YZ80 with the rad on the bars.....then my 125, same deal. Long dry spell in the Army........had a few transportation only bikes......a rebel, a GS550, then a GSXR and a ZX11......rode that one across europe......from GE to Romania in the early 90's, right after the wall came down.

Few more dirtbikes......XR600, CRF450X, XR250R......definitely one of my favorites.....funnest offroad bike ever. The XR650 was bulletproof. The 450X was fast....still have that one and still ride it (have the XR250 too). Rode the 450 in Baja many many miles.......preran the 500 and the 1000 on it. Best part about it was the "magic button". First dirtbike I ever owned with an electric start. Owned a magna, a KZ1000P (cop bike, got at an auction), a Virago, and a few other's. So far, I like the GW a lot......first bike I've owned that was actually comfortable 2 up.

If I remember right my old 501 Maico had a tickler.

I really liked my Yamaha 175 Enduro, lots of fun riding the trails and such, but I really liked my Triumph 650, which I had to rebuild and put back together.

And I really, really like my 2008 1800, smooth, fast, lot's of fun yet to come on that one.:action:

But the 83 Aspencade was my favorite so far. Maybe because I got it new, took it to Europe for almost 5 years, great adventures (I really miss those times)!:(

I have to agree, otherwise why have it. Can't afford several bikes, but as I had them they too were my favorite (at the time of course)

My Trike is my favorite.

My 1977 KZ650 B1 for $500.00 with only 9,942 miles on it. Bought it a few months ago :clapper:

Ah man this is tough CJ.

I once had a 125 Harley Davidson Rapido which I really loved. I also loved my 125 Kawasaki and my 250 Yamaha enduro.

However, I think my favorite bike is one I don't own. It would be a really cool looking sport tourer probably in high gloss black. I just don't know what brand. Could be a BMW. Could be a Kawasaki. Could be a Honda. I have not quite found it yet.

When it comes to riding though, eliminating looks from the equation, I'd stick with the Goldwing.

My favorite road bike of all times was my 1975 GL1000

Favorite dirt/enduro bike of all timeswas a brand new1977 YamahaIT 175 which was eventually bored outto 3rd oversize. Was clocked at over 90mph on that little weapon!

Often toyed with the ideal of putting on a pair of sticky street tires and a full race fairing to see what it's real capabilities were.

Every bike I have ever owned was my favorite, including my current wing!!! Ride on.:action::action::action::action::action:

Dad retired from the Air force in Jan 77', moved back home to Hawley,MN, to a farm he bought, we had always lived in the city or an Air force base, Dad bought me a 77' Xr 75 that spring, I loved that bike, many miles put on the gravel roads, have had many bikes since, but, I so loved the V65 magnas I've had, It wascalled the corvette of motorcycles when it first came out, I still drool when I see a mint one.
