OK, I have not read about this filter in my owners manual. A friend told me about it and sent me pictures of what it looked like, so today I tackled it. Yep, it's there. Under the right side faring next to your knee. When I took the old one apart it just crumbled.

I don't remember reading or seeing this one in my maintenance manual. I wonder why it was left out.:? Has anyone else changed theirs?

You betcha -- Actually made one from a foam lawn-mower filter -- should be able to hold-up to temps and exposure a bit better.

The odd thing about leaving that out of the manual, is that it seems awfully easy to suck into the reed valves and cause havoc y'know?

Yep, changed mine.

Look on page 12-8, photo 50 in the ETM. There is a picture of it. But it is not labeled.......!

How do you change it and were is it at. I did not know that was a filter in the faring. MCFF.

It looks like you have a GL1200 Gold Wing. Do you also have a GL1500 Gold Wing?

The discussion in this topic was about the sub air filter for a GL1500 Gold Wing.

Also changed mine this year. Good thing to since they were crumbling.

Thanks to a posting on this forum, I ordered a new filter for mine. Didn't replace it yet, but will when I get home.

I suspect the reason so many are at the crumbling stage, is the fact it is not listed in the manuals.

Don't look for it, don't fix it :D

Yep Mine was shot also. I got a box of nuts and bolts off ebay that also had the sub filter in it and other misc parts. I took it apart and it was shot also. So I did the lawn mower foam filter trick. I will see how that works.
