OK, I have not read about this filter in my owners manual. A friend told me about it and sent me pictures of what it looked like, so today I tackled it. Yep, it's there. Under the right side faring next to your knee. When I took the old one apart it just crumbled.

I don't remember reading or seeing this one in my maintenance manual. I wonder why it was left out.:? Has anyone else changed theirs?

You betcha -- Actually made one from a foam lawn-mower filter -- should be able to hold-up to temps and exposure a bit better.

The odd thing about leaving that out of the manual, is that it seems awfully easy to suck into the reed valves and cause havoc y'know?

I suspect the reason so many are at the crumbling stage, is the fact it is not listed in the manuals.

Don't look for it, don't fix it :D

Yep Mine was shot also. I got a box of nuts and bolts off ebay that also had the sub filter in it and other misc parts. I took it apart and it was shot also. So I did the lawn mower foam filter trick. I will see how that works.
