The Potomac River borders Hancock, MD. As soon as you cross the bridge on route 522 you are in West Virginia. It is only 5 miles to Berkeley Springs, WV.

I grew up in Berkeley Springs, WV and there is a lot of good riding around that area.

One nice ride you could take from Hancock would be route 522 to Berkeley Springs, turn right at the first traffic light on route 9 (west).

Go through Great Cacapon and Paw Paw, WV. At Paw Paw route 9 becomes route 51 when you cross the bridge into MD. Then continue on route 51 to Cumberland, MD.

Then take I-68 east back to Hancock. Or take route 144 (2-lane) back to Hancock.

Would be a nice (about 2 hour) ride with some nice curvy roads between Berkeley Springs and Paw Paw.

The Park-N-Dine and Weavers Restaurants on Main street (route 144) in Hancock are both good places to eat.

Also there is a Sheetz Gas Station on Main street (route 144) in Hancock, good place to gas up....!!

If you continue south through Berkeley Springs on route 522, there is a McDonald's and a Dairy Queen 2 miles south of town (on the right).

Also 3 miles south of Berkeley Springs on route 522 (on the right), there is a motorcycle dealership (Ridersville Cycles). They have Honda, Kawasaki, Victory etc.

Want to know any more about the area, just ask..............!!!

Would like to get up there, but that is a bit far from Florida with our Toy Hauler.
and about a month late after we will be in Galena, Illinois in June...
that is going to put a severe cramp on our Travel Budget.

tnx for the info
