Has anyone come across a cure for a surging 98 1500 ? The bike fluctuates between 700 to 1200 rpm @ idle. At higherrpm's under load , the rpms will only drop to 2600. No cables are sticking and the carbs were cleaned and synched, with no improvement . Any ideas ? BTW this is a very low milage bike. Thanks:?

No it is indeed the engine. Under load I cannot get the rpm's to drop below 2600 when gearing down. it acts like a stuck throttle but isn't.

Are you sure your choke cable isn't sticking? Sounds just like what you'd get with some choke on with a warm engine.

This symptom is usually fopund in older models where the slider is sticking. You can pull the air filter and get your fingers into the plastic sliders and see if they move freely. Some WD40 sprayed on them usually fixes the problem for a while. I'm no guru but I remember this from a past topic here.
