Sweet Home, Montana!

Wowser! 422 miles today, from Caspar, Wyoming to Laurel, Montana...... The Wind River Canyon, Chief Joseph Scenic Highway, Beartooth Pass..... are thereany three more spectacular roads in the world?

The ST1300 lapped up the sweepers like the well-fed, well-bredbeast she is, and that wife of mine in her little Grand Prix Knoxville Flash hung on to my fender like she was gorilla-glued there.....! Damn, did we have some fun! Wait till you see the pics!

My tongue was hanging out by the time we rolled into Red Lodge, where we planned to stay.... but the place was chock-full of Harley riders, all strutting around wearing red berets! (Them little red hats are cute, but what's up with that?)

Anyway, we don't play well in mob scenes so we headed on out and got us a motel in Laurel, right off I-90.... (getting used to this motel thing!) ...tomorrow, we'll be on our own personal mother road, Highway 12.... Lolo Pass.

My undying thanks to Dubswing, MDKramer, Flyone, Lopeha, Monk, Dave (can't remember his numbers!), G Lester, Bill's Girl, (Flyone's daughter), Patch... all those forumites whose generosity made our "reentry" summer (reentry after our accident) so possible and so successful! We will never be able to thank you enough.....

I had misty eyes going over the Beartooth; this time last year I had strapped up ribs, a healing lung, a wife with almost severed hand, and the sickening realization that our riding was perhaps in jeopardy, that we may never ride again.

But we have.... and we are eternally thankful!

To paraphrase again someone famous:

"There is nothng, absolutely nothing, so worth doing as just messing around on a motorcycle!"

Good to hear from you again Cuz, you and Red be safe the rest of the way home. Okay?

Glad to see that you and Red are on the home stretch and everything/body is doing great

I know it's a little late, but you can file this away for future reference.

There's a nice, cheap(donations accepted) campground in Columbus, right along the banks of the Yellowstone.

We stayed there after riding the Chief Joseph/Beartooth Pass section as well. Not the prettiest park, but the bathroom was reasonably clean, drinking water and huge cottonwoods made for a nice stop over, en route to Glacier NP.

Cheers, Dusty

You missed out on a perfect oppurtunity.

I will bet that if you had just walked in and startedtelling some of your stories, you could have put a jar on the table and before those harley riders had left, you'ld had all their money!!

It's great to see you and the Red one having fun again.

Both of you, travel safe.
