The tack on our 1500 trike will read high sometimes by a thousand or two rpms then the next time you start it will read correct.



The engine doesn't run any faster just the tack reads high.

I normaly turn around three thousand rpm's at 68 mph but tonight when I went for a ride it was reading 4500 at 68 mph but when I stop and shut off and started it again it was back to normal.



Any ideas:?

You only mention the reading at 68mph. Is there a difference at idle?

If it reads correctly at idle it could be the unthinkable slipping clutch.

Ya it reads high a idle when it does it.

The clutch isn't slipping the tack just reads high sometimes.
