TAKING A DIVE.........

LOOKS LIKE I'M TAKING A DIVE, I'M NOT TALKING SPORTS HERE, BUT RATHER, FORKS. FORKS AS IN MY FRONT END. ONLY 53,000 MILES, BUT TIME HAS TAKEN ITS TOLL ON MY FRONT SPRINGS. JUST LEANING FOWARD IN THE SEAT MAKES THESE SPRINGS ALMOST BOTTOM OUT !!!! HEAD BEARING NEEDS ADJUSTMENT OR REPLACEMENT TOO. JACKED IT UP AND THERE IS NO TENSION LEFT TO RIGHT AT ALL, SHE JUST FLOPS AROUND. I'M LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHAT TYPE OF SPRINGS TO PUT IN AND ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD DO WHILE I AM IN THERE,LIKEFORK SEALS, THEY DON'T LEAK RIGHT NOW, BUT I'M ONLY GOING IN ONCE, I HOPE. I AM NOT A VERY AGRESSIVE RIDER, BUT I DO LIKE THE TWISTIES. I RUN E3 TIRES IF THAT MATTERS. THE P.O. ONLY HAD 24,000 ON IT, SO I WOULD VENTURE TO SAY THAT NOBODY HAS BEEN IN THERE YET. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT MY DOWNLOADED MANUAL, A GOOD AMOUNT OF PAGES TO PRINT FOR THIS ONE. WELL, IF ANYONE HAS ANY TIPS, POINTERS, ADVICE, I AM OPEN TO IT ALL. I WOULD LIKE TO ORDER ALL THE PARTS THIS WEEK, SO IF THERE ARE OTHER THINGS NEEDED.............PLEASE, HELP ME SPEND MY ALLOWANCE. I SHOWED THE WIFE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I LET GO OF THE HANDLEBARS AT 35 AND HIT A BUMP..............INSTANT TANK SLAPPER.....AS SOON AS SHE CLEANED OUT HER PANTS, SHE SAID.........GET THE DAM THING FIXED. KINDA FIGURED THAT WOULD CONVINCE HER..........IT WORKED QUITE WELL

Sounds like you are low on fork oil.
I would rebuild and clean the forks, make sure the bushings get changed while you are at it, then add progressive springs.

Add a Super Brace to that and I agree completely.

Do all that and get some decent tires on it and you will think you have a whole different bike. No more rubber forks.

I agree with the seals, bushings, oil fork brace and most important Progressive springs, they are worth their weight in gold. The steering head bearings might just need adjustment which in itself on the 1500 is a pain but much easier that changing them..at 50K, I would not think they need it. Just try the adjustment first on the head bearings. I would suggest repack/inspect the front wheel bearings too. Some owners use high pressure guns to clean their bikes and water gets past the seals on the front wheel bearings. I always suggest, when a new tire goes on, inspect and repack the wheel bearings. this can be done without removal of the bearings, just need two "picks" to get protective covers off, repack with grease on your fingers and re press in shield/cover/protector. Always do the rear when changing tire also!
