You guys mentioned checking the voltage stabilizer. My repair manual calls out a voltage regulator and a voltage rectifier on the 76 gl1000. Is there another part or is it one of these?

The voltage rectifier / regulator converts the threee wire 50-some volt AC from the stator to a DC voltage used to charge the battery, etc.. Another voltage regulator is used to convert 12v DC to 7v DC to power the fuel and temp sensors.

Georgetown... Heard of it! I did the security system, cameras, etc at the HEB store on FM2238.

The voltage stabiliser is in the instruments, it the pod between the speedo and tach. It's for stabilising the fuel & temp gauges. Someone may have just made a typo when referring to the regulator.
