Temporary repair of 7V regulator. on my 75. And 12V auto regulator.

I bought 5V regulator in Radio Shack for $1.5.
Temp gauge goes to the right side of green square (about 10% of travel). Important thing that it is moving and as long as you know "normal" 5V position you'll be fine.
Advantage of 5V is that current is low and no radiator is needed.

About 12V. I soldered 4 wires and believed that my 12V reg. problem disappeared but not sure anymore. I went to Advance auto store and looked at several regulators GM, Ford and Chrysler. I am not sure if it is possible to use auto regulators because Wing has magnet and cars have coil rotors.
Who knows?

Automotive regulators control the charge from the stator by varying the voltage to the rotor therefore varying the magnetic field. Since the 4 cyl. wings have permanent magnets in the rotor it is not possible to vary the output of the stator externally. So no it won't work.

Maybe you can use a cigarette lighter adapter for cell phones. Get the kind that has adjustable voltage, with 7-7.5V as one of the settings. My guess is that an extra 1/2 volt won't break anything.
