Well, after returning from Nassir 2, our summer is finally drawing to a close.....

And what a summer! Two big trips, something like 11,000 miles in all.... mountains and prairies..... great, hurkin', thunderstorms (!).... and people......

The people we've been privileged to meet: Dubswing and Lois, Lopeha, Glester, Dave 0430, MDKramer and Gina, Monk, Motorcycle Pete, Ruaidh, Luddy, Blackdog, Titanium Wing, Flyone and his lovely daughter, Bill's Girl, Beaver Bill, Winger 77, Dusty Boots, Jluvs, Exavid, Exavid's BMW Brother Gary (nobody's perfect!), Wingnut and Wingnut Jr., Wexy and Fabienne, Swampfoxcws and his lovely wife Cindy, 96 Aspencade and "Boss" Barb, Azgl1500 and Mardronna, two Georgia guys (can't remember their forum names!) Wayne and John (?), the science teacher from Texas (help me out here!) and so many others I can't remember right now..... (if I've left you out, please forgive me.... my 67 year old memory, ya know?)

Things I learned this summer and at Nassir:

- I ain't as fast as I thought....

- I can't ride slow worth beans....

- But I also learned that a supportive community can be created from nothing but a shared passion and a shared love of the free, open road; and that Red and I are blessed to live here, now, and will be blessed as long as we have the health and freedom to ride...... Thank you all for making our summer so joyful!

CJ and Red

(p.s. I'll beediting people into the above list as I think of them!)

CJ, your writings are always like a great book. Every thread I see that you've authored, I read. Sure hope I get a chance to meet you two somewhere along the way.

True words spoken here. It is their inspiration that got me to the roads out west and then to Nassir-2.

Thank you Mel & Sandy.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Life is good :cooler:

CJ, I am not sure how much riding this yeas is left, but next year head this way and we will go cruise through glacier and maybe on up to banff. I have plenty of room and a garage big enough to park a few bikes.

Thanks for the great offer, Stinky! We're in Montana a lot..... got roots there..... my dad was born in Deer Lodge..... I'd go live in Red Lodge right now except my wife's family would barb-wire me to a tree if I took her away! We love the Ice-Field Parkway between Banff and Jaspar, too......

:cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1:

We'll look you up one day!

Greatly enjoyed meeting you and Red, CJ.

Only thing that could have made it better is to have been able to ride a Goldwing to Montrose and back home. :D

It was a pleasure to meet both of you and swap tales of small towns in Texas. In some ways, the little places haven't changed all that much since your days in Mineral Wells. If you ever get back this way, stop by Abilene.

Hi, Scott! You're the science teacher, right? Yeah, I loved Mineral Wells, especially a plump little blonde that lived there! Man, what a sweetheart she was! I hope she married well, had a handful of happy, plump little kids, and is now a grannie on the back of a Wing somewhere! Texas women! Hard to beat! At least back in northern Texas before Vietnam........

Pleasure to meet you......

See ya at the next one; and we will ring you up if we' re passing through "Abilene, my Abilene...... prettiest town, I've ever seen.......!" I miss Ricky Nelson, too!

I hear you, Ole Paint!

So far this summer, I've clocked in excess of 15,000 miles on trips and still can't get enough. Guess that's why I'm still out on the road. :baffled:

Here's a few photos taken during the 1st week of this most recent trip ...

You can see why it's so addicting!

Dang CJ I didn't realize you had roots in Montana. I graduated high school in Anaconda!! I still have friends that live in Deer Lodge and work out at Warm Springs - or are they "guest", not sure its a bit confusing now days.....

I love the area around there, especially when you hike into the Pintler Wilderness for a bit of rough camping or over into the Big Hole Valley to go fishing. Great hunting around Lincoln... so many great memories of the things I did on the 250 Enduro and the 350 Yamaha there.

Too bad you didn't get to ride more this summer Mel, I've put on over 24,000 so far this year and barely left the state. :action:

I just did my math and didn't realize that I had done as much riding. No matter howmany miles you ride,,,,,,,,,,it just never seems like enough. 13,973 so far this year, and it's not over yet. It's been a great season for me. I've seen some of America's best sites, along with meeting and making friends with some members of this fine forum. Here are a few pics from the big trip to NASSIR-2. http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii35/winger77/100_4337.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii35/winger77/100_4365.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii35/winger77/100_4682-1.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii35/winger77/100_4779-1.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii35/winger77/100_4860-1.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii35/winger77/100_5616-1.jpg

Ah Ha! In that bunch is the famous picture I've heard about! Not the one with me and Red, but yours and Dusty's LeadSleds buried by a bevy of beauties! It wasn't Harley guys in rearendless chaps at all! Ah Ha! So..... how many of them fit in the tents?

Well,,,,,,,,,, um,,,,,,,,,,,,, I do have the 4 man/women tent. And rearendless chaps would have been interesting to say the least.

Although summer is over the riding season around here is still going strong. Yesterday I rode over the highway 150 that climbs over the Uinta Mountains into Wyoming and back over into Utah over Monte Cristo. Apparently about a hundred other riders decided to ride the same roads as we did. It was one of those days when you get tired of waving. It was a picture perfect day and the colors from the changing leaves were glorious. Today we took a short loop up to Logan and back.

The Goldwing has over 6,500 recreational miles since late June when we took our first trip of three this summer. I haven’t got near enough time behind windshield and I’m not putting the gear up yet. I am hoping to head south for a least one more tour trip. At a minimum I will do as many day rides as I can until the snow flies.

Someday soon I hope to be able to take a 3 or 4 week trip like CJ & Red or Mr. Boots.

Riding is so addicting!

Not quite, Mel ...... not quite. :cooldevil:

You have the cast of çharacters there, but the 'performance' was just about to start when that shot was taken. :D

Red would be ashamed of those .... women! ;)
