The wife and I are planning a trip soon ,, we live near Kansas City , MO and were starting out from here and riding to New Orleans , La ,,,then on too Key West , Fl ,,, from there we plan to run the entire East Coast clear to Maine ,,I would love to meet some of you along our journey. If anyone would be up for that please just let us know about where your at and we will swing through there and call you or something !!! I love to meet people and chit chat abit ,,This ride is called our GRAND TOUR as I was just recently diagnosed with classic hogkins cancer . It is a curable cancer (we hope) but want to get my dream trip in first ,,then go from there.Let us know please , were leaving kc on Sun June 2nd 2013 -- returning home July 2nd 2013 ,,,,,We get a entire month off from work and were very blessed for that.
A rough draft of our trip is as follows ::::

Leave KC June 2nd 2013 ----- be in New Orleans , La by Tuesday June 4th 2013,,,then on to Key West ,,,be there by friday or Sat June 7th or 8th,,,
then leave Key West Sat or Sun and head north straight up the coast !!!planning on being in Maine by june 17th or so ,,,, then on too New york , then detroit Mi,,,,then to Mackinaw Bridge ,,,,then to Indiana and then head home .. I'll stop rambling ,,,, Thanks guys for all your help when needed !!

I would take 441 out of Florida, through Georgia, and North Carolina then onto the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive. Very beautiful ride from Florida into Virginia. Just a suggestion.:waving:

Not sure how long you plan to be in N O, or what you might want to see, but here's a couple ideas. Aquarium and Zoo are good ones. WWII museum is good. French Quarter(it's more than just Bourbon Street). 1 hr west, Mr Charlie, old drilling rig you can tour. 2 hrs west, Avery Island, home of Tabasco. Lots of plantation homes. Swamp tours.
When leaving N O , look into Hwy 90 through the marsh to Miss. Then along the coast to Ala. Nice ride.

cool Thank you ,,, only plan to be there a day ,,, before heading Southeast to Key West !!! The thing that would help us more on this trip would be areas to avoid when lodging and stuff ,,, worried about the bike you know when sleeping (lol) ! and we wont know the areas at all !!! ,,,this trip is more of just to say I've been there on 2 wheels so to speak,,,we will site see dont get me wrong just not for days at a time in one area. and hopefully we will be able to maintain about a 70.00 avg per night lodging bill through the whole trip !raying:

70 a night might be tough in NO. There are areas you will want to avoid, I'll see what I can do about routes to stay away from them. I take 90 to I310 to I10 going in from the west. To the east, I10, or I10 to 90(Chef Menteur Blvd) to Miss.
I'd suggest stopping for the night before getting to NO, then ride in for the day, and head down the road for the night. I think some of the casinos in Miss. have good room rates. That would be 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

Hotel Provincial and Hotel St Marie are cool, about 125 a night. Both are in the FQ. Provincial has off street parking.

I'm located up in the central region of IL (close to Springfield). I see from your list, you'll be passing through IN on your way home so I guess its safe to ASSuME you will be passing through IL as well. Do you know about when that would be? Maybe the Misses and I on this end could meat up with you for short visit as you come through. Would love to view some pictures of your trip. Some day I want to do that. Just haven't had the currage or time to go on that long of a trip. Wish you all the best with the medical issues. That stuff seems to run in my family and I don't like it.
