We bought a 84 Aspencade Gl1200. Somehow the thermostat we took off is nowhere to be found. I cannot find a thermostat that will fit. It is to long. Has anyone run into this problem? Please help.

Never found a generic one to fit
I once owned a Honda ST1100 and the thermostat was severely corroded....
apparently it had more water than Anti-Freeze in it....

I bought a Stant brand at the local auto store, it would not fit in the housing.
Took it back for a refund, then ...

I went to the Honda dealer in Scottsdale, AZ and bought the OEM thermostat, problem solved.

It just sticks in my mind that the GL stat is an odd size and you are stuck with the OEM expensive one, worth doing the boiling water test to see if the old one works first

NAPA #THM 101
Stant #13868

See if these work

I got one at NAPA...? I believe. It opens a little earlier than the OEM unit.
The OE is 82c =179.6f and the NAPA (stant) is probably 180f but probably none of them are exact.

Replaced mine with Gates 33488, no problems. A couple other non-OEM were the radiator hoses with NAPA #7733 and radiator cap was NAPA 31333.
