Found what looks like a real deal at a local Harley dealer....06' BMWk1200GT....24K miles...full bags, abs...etc....$9500....riding a '91 1500 that I just completed top to bottom maintenance on...somebody stop me....:gunhead:

Do you have to sell the wing to get this bike?
If you like it buy it, BMW is a great motorcycle too.

K1200GT not LT ,take it for a spin then jump right back on your 1500 and feel the comfort..2 totally different machines , the bm is ok for short trips ,but the GT is not a tourer like the LT ,, Ciaran

I have never been one to be "brand loyal", just loyal to motorcycling. There is a nice looking KLR 650 for sale in town here, I would love to have a bike like that, I had the best time riding dirt bikes on gravel roads(we have ALOT of gravel roads), can't have 2 bikes though, and I do love the wing, wife and kids would be mad if I got rid of it too.

Last fall we were visiting my son in Dayton, NV and he took us up to Virginia city to walk the shops (I was doing my husbandly like duties and letting my wife spend the day shopping). Anyway, there sat a beautiful BMW1200 LT. I liked it a lot. Didn't ride it of course because I didn't know how to hot wire it and sneak a ride.

I don't think I could afford a BMW. Not because of the bike, but because of the $4,000 you have to spend on the most expensive riding gear available (including jacket with fluorescent green stripes) that appears to be mandatory for BMW riders.

I did a motorcycle rider profile on the web a long time ago, it asked questions like What is style of riding, miles travelled, age, etc...
In order, it saidI belonged on a
1. BMW
2. Sport tourer
3. Gold Wing
4. Harley
5. Ducati

I did thepoll again and said yes to the "any tatoos" and facial hair question, and upped my income by 20%, and HD went from 4 to 2...interesting how that is.

I bought a `93 K1100LT and loved it. Drove it about a year and sold it for exactly what I paid for it. I kept both `Wings though.

Yeah.....I'd sell the wing to get the beemer...it was traded in on a harley...ran into a guy who has 5 "K" bikes and has ridden an incredible number of miles...like the idea of a "sportier" bike...wife likes the wing....going to nova scotia in july....

The high cost of parts and labor have always put me off Beemers.... plus the stringent, off-puttingterms of their warranties......
My friend, Beemer John, has a Beemer (naturally) -- one of the singles, a 650GS, I think. He doesn't do his own work and can only get it serviced in two places, Seattle or Clarkston, Wa. I usually go with him on his service runs. He never leaves the shop without passing over a $500 bill, and all I can get out of him on what they did is...."They changed my oil and adjusted some things!" $500. Oil change.
Once, after they had "adjusted some things," his engine raced everytime he turned right! The excellent BMW school-trained mechanics has mis-routed a throttle cable while "adjusting some things........!"
He didn't really find it funny when I said, "Hell, Johnny, I can change your oil and screw up your bike for a lot less than $500!" Nope, he didn't think it funny at all!
