I got one of them gravel-eating KLR's, nuzzled right up to my Honda ST1300! It's a great bike, and the only trouble two bikes give me is: which one shall I ride today! Also, I have a heck of time in morning deciding whether to wear my Honda hat or my Kawwie hat! Life is so tough........

The high cost of parts and labor have always put me off Beemers.... plus the stringent, off-puttingterms of their warranties......

My friend, Beemer John, has a Beemer (naturally) -- one of the singles, a 650GS, I think. He doesn't do his own work and can only get it serviced in two places, Seattle or Clarkston, Wa. I usually go with him on his service runs. He never leaves the shop without passing over a $500 bill, and all I can get out of him on what they did is...."They changed my oil and adjusted some things!" $500. Oil change.

Once, after they had "adjusted some things," his engine raced everytime he turned right! The excellent BMW school-trained mechanics has mis-routed a throttle cable while "adjusting some things........!"

He didn't really find it funny when I said, "Hell, Johnny, I can change your oil and screw up your bike for a lot less than $500!" Nope, he didn't think it funny at all!
