+1 for standard carbs over fuel injection - using cruise control and the choke allowed me to ride it home rather than calling a recovery truck.
I don't think replacing the cable is a 30 minute job, so I'll limp it round to my local bike shop and get them to put a pair of new cables on...

I'm struggling... why do these cables cost £40 each?
How does a bike shop justify charging £85 an hour for a spanner monkey when Siemens charge £100 an hour to send a specialist engineer in to the middle of the Amazon jungle to make sure a power station doesn't explode?

A quick look on ebay and I can have a brand new pair of cables shipped from the USA for the same price the shop wants for one cable.

I saw the purchase order for my jungle trip - US$1300 per day (plus expenses) - that's £1000 a day and I was doing up to 12 hours a day.

I don't suspect anything about the cost of running the Lamborghini and Range Rover the owners have parked out front.

Looks like I can get both cables shipped from the USA to the UK for £30 rather than £40 each

I'll do it myself.
To put this debacle in to perspective, the guys running the shop have been complaining about business being quiet..!
