82 Gl1100 - Previous owner had it sitting for years, been working through it with my boy the last year to get it safe/running.
Got the rebuilt carbs on last night and got through idle screw adjustment process. She's running decent, still need to sync.
Noticed little/no throttle return, which is concerning. I'll troubleshoot today.
How snappy should that return be?
When I let go of a properly function throttle on the gl1100 should it snap back cleanly from any position?

Could be anything from gummed up cables to a weak return spring. The cable bell could also be bound up some how.

I'd start by removing the return cable first if that makes a difference it's likely gummed up or needs replaced. If no change remove the pull cable and try turning the bell by hand. If it behaves properly at that point I'd replace both cables. If it's still not returning properly the bell is gummed/bound up. Could also be an issue in the linkages. Maybe something was over tightened or put on backwards during the rebuild.

thank you. Took the cables off, sprayed brake cleaner down the holes until it started coming out the other end, worked the cables, blew air through em, wd40.. smooth as silk now and yes, snaps back cleanly.
