Hi I had problems with that recently and I put a long brakerbar with a socket on the crank nut and centered the TI mark. Then I vise gripped the bar to the frame so it stayed on T1..
Pull the bottomside of the belt taught opposite of the tension pulleys and turn the cogged gear that little bit the valve spring moves it to the mark and slip on the belt with one hand and hold. and then while holding have the tension pulley bolts slightly loose and tighten with a wrench with the other hand so the belt doesn't slip back a tooth. make sure you started as per manual first It worked well for me to have the T1 mark held while I did the rest.
