Hi everyone, I am new to the group. I just bought another bike a 76 GL1000 I wanted to check the bike over and I suspected that the timing was out. I linedup the F1 timing mark, according to the manual the cam dot should lineup with the rubbing block of the 1 and 2 cylinder rubbing block, it is way off the mark. Correct me if I am wrong but that is an indicator that the time has jumped. I possible please respond ASAP

Thanks

Paul, turn the engine over one more revolution (360°) & back to F-1 again & re-check it..

Yeah try rolling the engine over 360 degrees and check again, make sure the "UP" mark on the cam pully is up.

These engines are very tight, if the timing is off even a couple of teeth you will have valve/piston contact.
