I put on a new rear brake line on my GL1200 1985. I can't get the clip on that holds the line into the bracket that is attached directly under the battery. The hard and soft line come together and there is a horseshoe shaped clip that is supposed to slip into a grove on the soft line fixture so that the line can't pull back through the bracket. The bracket has a bow to it so it will hold tight once placed into the groves. The bow also makes it really hard to get it on there.

Anyone have any tips?

You just gotta hold your mouth right. The hose only fits in the bracket a certain way so it will go in far enough to expose the groove.

How about if I put it on backwards? I got it snapped on so the concave side is toward the front of the bike. It seems to hold tight. (I think it was the other way when I took it off.)

I would have to be looking at it to know which way is which but if it holds tight it should be OK, it probably would never be noticed it it did come off.
