After reading about all these bikes going down I went out to check my tires . My front tire has lots of tread left but I noticed small cracks on the bottom of groove where tread meats flat rubber. Is this normal I was out today riding stopped at bike shop and looked at used bikes and they had same thing. Its not dry rot or anything just tiny cracks inside if grooves thanks

I would think a bit more information is needed, like how old are the tires, where is it stored (outside, inside), including what part of the country is it stored, does it sit for a season or two?

Have you checked the tire's Date Stamp?

Anything more than 6 years old and I'd be replacing it!!!

Can you post a picture? It sounds like it is weather related. Sometimes one can damage the tires by using the wrong chemicals on them in making them look good. Perhaps thePO covered it but left the wheels exposed. Are the cracks totally around the tire?

Visible cracks in a tire means toss the tire. Period.

There isno such thing as a safe tire with cracks in it.

There are costs we can avoid, but tires aren't one of them.

Yup, If you take your running shoes & flip them up side down on the floor so you can see the bottoms, You will see the approximate size of the 2 rubber surface area's that hold your 800 pound bike to the pavement when you lean into a corner at 60 miles per hour!

Them 2 lil patches must be in primo condition because thats all you have!!
