I don't think scalded cats go anywhere fast. When I was just a small lad the family was having dinner one evening when a loud and ferocious cat fight erupted in our garage. A real furball! My grandmother grabbed a teakettle and threw it's contents on our cat and the neighbor's cat who were occupied with their dispute. The cats immediately quit fighting and just sat there licking themselves. My mother said, "look how hot those cats got fighting like that, they're steaming". My dad said,"they probably wouldn't steam if no one threw boiling water on them." It seems my grandmother hadn't noticed the kettle was on the fire and boiling when she tossed its contents. Apparently neither cat was damaged since both had long lives before they passed onto kitty heaven.
