What are all of the tools needed to replace a stator on a 1986 1200 Aspencade? What is the best aftermarket stator to get and where? Do I need to replace the regulator thing as well?
Any advise would be great advise

Welcome to the Site! It's nice to see someone staying OEM!:coollep:

First off, get a shop manual for the Beast! The proceedure is in there and will answer alot of your questions. A set of metric sockets 1/4-3/8 drive plus wrenchecs should do you up good. I can't be more specific as I've never removed the engine which this will entail...

For the stator replacement.. glhonda has reported good luck with Rick's stators:

And if I were gonna replace the stator I'd replace the regulator at the same time with the OEM Shindengen from this site:

Contact them and ask for the Shindengen model for your bike as that's basicly the only brand that will last...

Take pic's, post them and let us know how you're doing with her!! Good Luck!!!!
