Welcome to the Site! It's nice to see someone staying OEM!:coollep:
First off, get a shop manual for the Beast! The proceedure is in there and will answer alot of your questions. A set of metric sockets 1/4-3/8 drive plus wrenchecs should do you up good. I can't be more specific as I've never removed the engine which this will entail...
For the stator replacement.. glhonda has reported good luck with Rick's stators:

And if I were gonna replace the stator I'd replace the regulator at the same time with the OEM Shindengen from this site:
http://www.regulatorrectifier.com/catalog/
Contact them and ask for the Shindengen model for your bike as that's basicly the only brand that will last...
