Totaled '84 Standard, Part out or sell?

870 Views 9 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  UbarW
Totaled my '84 1200 Standard recently. I've decided not to repair it. Everything in front of neck/triple-tree is destroyed. Everything behind it is good. (Yes, it still cranks and runs fine.) I want to sell it as a whole unit. Anyone know where or how I might do that? Any thoughts on what I should ask?

Thanks for your input.

CaptKirk.
just saw your post. i would be interested in entire engine assembly. Have you decided on a price yet. i get to Columbia SC on reg basis. so could swing up to NC depending where you are at.
Thanks. Chester
To tell the truth, I'm not sure what to ask for the whole assembly. Somebody help me out here without trying to steal it from me. It should be cleared from insurance and ready to move in 2-3 weeks. (I'm near Charlotte, NC)

I am looking for both the left and right lower inner cowl parts. They are the parts number 3 and 10 in this diagram

They are located behind the lower fairing air intakes.

This ad is for a 1200 standard(NAKED) so they will not be on there.:readit:
I wish you weren't so fae away. I've been looking for an '84 stardard to fix up.

Here's a front-end for it. http://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/7-sale-wanted-forum/397993-84-1200-aspy-parting-out.html
I just sent an 84 to the junk yard. Wish I'd known.

Thanks for your interest and input. I sold it last weekend for $310 to a friend who is rebuilding a nice "barn-find".

Anyone have any recommendations for a replacement? Mine was the '84 - 1200 STANDARD and I REALLY loved that bike. Rode great, great gas mileage (averaged 50 mpg), plenty of power and torque, SMOOTH, nice rear seat for 2-up riding, Nice upright seating position. Since parts are getting harder to find for these '80s models I'm looking at going up to about yr 2000. I'm not a full dresser guy like the new wings and I don't think I'll be happy with the stretched out leg position of the Honda Shadows and Harley style. My round-trip daily commute is 70 miles. My dollar limit is about $5000. I've had good success with the Honda brand but I'll consider pretty much any brand within my price limit.

Thanks for your input. - Captkirk
You can find a 97-99 Vaulkrie for @$4000-$5000
Same 6 cyl Goldwing 1500 motor, no reverse and naked.
