if you need a 5 wire (bike) to 4 wire trailer adapter uhaul has them, ill get you the model number cause if you ask those idiots they wont know what your talking about... i was prob the exception to the rule on my bike but should go rather easy for the wiring, for me i had to do some tricks and extra stuff...
the carrier you can get at sears for about $119 bucks, alot of dif people use dif model carrier, main thing is if you get a normal carrier you will will most likely not be able to narrow your trailer frame down very much, mine only has maybe 2 inches on either side of the carrier, so youll have to know up front if you dont mind the trailer being alittle wider than your bike by about 5 in on either side, for me it has not been an issue, you just have to remember its there.
one of the major things i learned on building my own is you have to plan it out, what are you using it for, how wide do you want it, how fancy do you want to make it, do you want to paint it, you have to ask yourself alot of questions and get feed back from others before you start.
but its well worth it because in the end you get exactly what you want and you can be proud u did it yourself...
the hb trailer takes a 1 7/8 ball... and as far as a swivel hitch thats up for debate some swear by it some dont... for me the only thing i have noticed is that when your parked and you want to take the trailer off sometimes you have to rock the bike to get it to release, a swivel would stop that, but other than that no issue.
im writing a blog on building mine, im writing it in my spare time so foregive me if it takes me a bit. but here is the link... i try to update it a bit every day
