how do I separate the trees from the frame to replace the bearings on my Gl1100? is there something I can buy, make or do I just have to take it somewhere?

The basics are the front end comes off..all of it. jack up the engine to support the front end, drop the wheel, remove(tie thm up) calipers and fender , pull the forks, remove gauges, loosen the nut on the steering collar, she'll come off not hard not rock science but a lot of things to remove.

It's not a major difficulty job. You will need o be careful torquing the stem steering nut at the end of the job.
