My blinkers suddenly stopped working. Nothing happens on dash(no blinker indicators) When I put the left signal on the front left turn signal light goes out, same on right side. But those lights are working when I don't switch the turn signals on. Suggestions appreciated.
Try this before taking the bike apart. Get a can electronic contact cleaner, or 2, from Harbor Freight or whatever store is handy. Put rags and paper towels wherever the cleaner will spill or spray. Direct the spray nozzle into the spaces around the blinker switch, also move the switch left and right many times. If after 3 cycles of spray with no improvement then proceed with disassembly and problem solving. This also works for the Emergency light switch, some ignition switch problems and for 1500's this works on the reverse switch activated by the handle near your left knee. Good luck.
That happened on my 83 and it was the flasher, I went out back to one of the junk cars we used to have and got one to replace it, it was not the same size but I got it to work, a flasher is a flasher, all do the same job.
Pretty much, the original is a 3 wire but just leave the green off and a 2 wire will work.
