I need one that is really waterproof and preferably will fit in one of the storage compartments, if not the side then at least the top trunk. The one I have is a legend line dust cover and NOT waterproof. The bike is also full of condensation some mornings in an open carport. Yes I read the manufacturers claims; just don't completely believe them. What do you long distance tourers use? :)Thanks all!

I use this kind of cover when travelling and like it.
Seems to cut down condensation from when I used a full cover.
Packs very small in a side bag.
Not sure the brand, but rather common and i see a lot of 'em when parked at night, even if it's to discourage kids from getting on your bike in a parking lot.

"Ultraguard"?. :)

When I got my bike in 1995 I bought the first cover I found at the stealer. Big mistake. It had a nice white Goldwing logo on it and almost immediately started to shed little bits of white decal all over the place, including the bike.

Not long after that fiasco I got a "Bagman Ultra I" full cover, made by Lemans Corporation in Rogers Minnesota, according to the label on it.

Pros: It's heavy material and still waterproof after all these years and it has no signs of holes or tears. Cons: There was a soft layer of white material on the inside top section designed to protect the windshield from scuff marks but that has worn away (windshield has been fine without it). The black is also slightly discolored from sitting in the sunshine.

It is not small or light...takes up about one third of the space in a saddlebag, but it's always with me. I cover my 1500 if I'm going to leave it anywhere, even in a shop parking lot, as I feel it attracts far less attention that way.

I no longer seem to have a record of where, or exactly when, I bought mine, and I'm guessing it's no longer made, but the site below appears to still sell the "Ultra II" version (I think mine was an XL size).

Here's what mine looks like on my 1500 (note that I have a slightly lower than stock windshield i.e. a Firecreek):

Cheers, Nicholas.

This is what I use: www.eztouring.com I have two, The half cover & the full cover . I Sware By them 100% WATER PROOF . Take a look ! The half cover takes up no more room than 1 1/2 winter gloves, The full cover takes up no more room than 2 pair of Winter gloves and thats the real deal NO B.S. I also have the Ultra Gard Covers that I use for winter storage.

I got me the full size version of that cover. Fits in a saddlebag in its own cover, and it has a nice soft liner for the screen.

I have the Ultraguard too. The only thing I don't like about it is the eyelets at the base are made of metal, you know the paint scratching kind.

When choosing a waterproof cover be sure it breaths well. Obviously this is less of an issue with a 1/2 cover (shortie) but a full cover really does need a vent at the top to allow condensation to escape otherwise it will build up inside and cause damage over the long term storage.
