yesterday my baby crashed into the garage and the right side of the trunk now is kaput...:sadguy:
My baby is a 1996 pearl royal magenta. As the engravings are on the darker side portion of the trunk I would like to know if the decal/stripe are already painted or are only gray/silver and change their color with the base coat (the primary color)

The stripes are not painted. They are the same colour before the are fitted to the bike. However, the stripes and the darker coloured inset are all a one-piece transfer/decal and the darker part is translucent. It is a very light magenta and gets darker when laid on the panel, the panels colour showing through.

so there is no need to paint color over the decal? Only the clear coat right? The problem is if I lay down the new decal over the old decal it becames darker....
