Just wondering if any of the movie buffs on here remember a movie from the following description. I can't find it via Google so a sharp memory is needed.

It was set in the US and not sure of the year in the story - maybe the 80's. A panel/car body repair shop was a major part of the setting.

I think there were some car thieves amongst them and a car caught their attention. Normally I know my cars fairly well but time has dimmed my memory.

I am fairly certain it was a red mid 60's Mustang however I wouldn't rule out that it could have been a Camaro of the same era. Pretty bad that I can't remember that but one of the two.

It was in pristine condition so the thieves planned to steal it which they did. They took it back to the body shop and completely stripped it to the very last nut and bolt. The parts were carefully stored to avoid damage.

The body shell was dumped somewhere and the police found it and it ended up being auctioned in a salvage sale. Naturally the car thieves were at the auction and were bidding on the shell. I think they pushed the price up too high which did alert some bidders and the original owner from whom it was stolen was bidding too.

The thieves were the highest bidders and so took the shell back to the shop.

The car was carefully put back together, exactly the same colour oops color and wheels. Everything as it was. I guess the reason they didn't change the color was a deliberate thing to antagonise the true owner.

They wasted no time in driving the car around the same town and therightful owner saw it and reported it to the police. The thieves produced the proof of purchase from the auction declaring that the car was legally theirs.

Ideas on the movie name anyone?? :?

I'll check it out thanks Beenshot :waving:

Just had a look on Wikipedia and the plot is very similar but not the same one. It's from the sameera though.

Yeah, as I was reading it I was thinking Corvette summer too, but it doesn'tfit the bill. In that one the thieves took it from a high school autoshop, took it to vegas and drove it around just as it was until one of the students from the school (Luke Skywalker :D) saw them in it. Then I think they repainted it gold and long story short he repainted it red in the thieves own shop and then stole it back.

Never heard of no man's land, I'll have to check that one out.

Sorry Jimbo.

Charlie Sheen wasn't in it. 90+% sure it's a Mustang and red.

+1 on that. Even if you remember just one actors name you can type it in and find every movie he or she made andthe entire cast. They even have an app for andriod users.

Not yet Wingman.

There are hundreds of movies with Mustangs and I might have already passed over it. They are all starting to look the same. :sleepy:
