I don't know if an 83 is like an 80 but there's a relay for your signals inside the tank, that might be acting up ??

Sounds like the relay all right. The little coil is taking too long tobuild up its charge and thats why its fine when warmed up. The relay in the 1100 is a standard type that you see in cars as well.

My relay went down last year. Turn signals would sometimes all just come on together whenI hit the switch and stay on. A new relay from Honda was over €60! :gunhead:

Sounds like you need a new blinker which is inside the fake gas tank on the left. Take the old one off and take it to an auto parts store and match it up with a new one.

I got my new unit a year ago from a bike junk yard...used,,,
but might as well go new.
