Considering renting a 6x12 enclosed Uhaul (their biggest trailer) to move the two wings back to California ('83 Interstate and 2000 SE)... seems like it should fit.. one forward and slightly angled.. the other beside/behind it.. backing the back one in..

Has anyone actually done it with this setup?? Is there anything else better short of buying something? Anyone used an open car carrier for two bikes (like two rails)???

Thanks.. jim

(1) Have you checked the insides of one of them for floor based tie down points? I've used their trucks but never their trailers.

(1) Their box trailers don't have the tie downs in the right place Jim. That's from memory several years ago.

(2) An open car trailer would be better. Lots of solid rails on that and usually loops to tie off to.

(3) maybe you could find a dual rail m/c trailer on craigslist? The rental rates for U-haul are through the roof.
.....
(4) Ummmm, why do you want to go back to California? Way more expensive out there than where you are.
(1) Not worried about tie down points.. I have a complete custom setup that I made for the 6x12 the last time I rented one to bring the SE back from Oklahoma.. so I could use this and make more.. was curious about the room.. enclosed an locked seems more secure..

(2) I was thinking the same.. might be the way to go.. about $370 to rent it though

(3) I'll do some looking.. we have a c.r.a.p.p.y craigslist even including Indianapolis.. not much available.. and besides, this is Harley country so trailers are in big demand.. not many available:cheeky1::cheeky1: (couldn't resist that.. )

(4) lets see... I hate snow and cold.. job is being transferred back to Pasadena in February.. I hate snow and cold... all my kids are in southern california.. I hate snow and cold...and all the grandkids are in southern california... I hate snow and cold... My wife's parents just moved to Los Angeles.. I hate snow and cold.. and did I mention.. I hate snow and cold...

MIght add that the new job is for a client in Phoenix so I'll be spending much time there.. probably weeks at a time... so there will probably be an opportunity to get out Mesa way.. I'll probably keep a bike in Phoenix until the contract is complete.. I am being optomistic here.. as the contract is not even signed.. due to close the deal this month.. then startup in February..

I saw that bike in your NASSIR pictures... must clatter like crazy.. I would like to see it in person... will he let you start it?

When things actually get settled in.. I'll make it a point to meet up with you.. both bikes are still here in Indiana, but I need to get them west somehow.. and being registered in CA, I pay insurance year-round (guys here in IN don't)...
