Was out gathering up parts at Napa and Honda dealership for up coming 60K service on my GL1100I. While at the dealership, I was looking at a used 1994 GL1500SE. Nice bike, 89000 miles, minor scatches and a missing cover on right saddlebag under speaker. But overall a real nice bike with all the goodies. I asked the sales girl what they wanted for it and with a pretty smile she said $13400. I asked her why in the world would anyone give that much for a well used bike when for about $4k more I could buy a new one in Dallas? (Here in Killeen/Ft Hood area make that 6K.) I thanked her and told her that I think I'll keep my 81. I got home, and started looking at e-bay and I could have got a lot nicer bike for a lot less. It is bad enough that I had to give $46 for a couple of gaskets and o-rings (about $2 in materials ) but I don't see how they can ask about $4K more for a bike than it is worth in my opinion. I don't think the bike cost that much new in 94.

I forgot to ask if that was with a full tank of gas, maybe thats why it is so high.

Talked to my friend who works in the service department, said that the bike was a trade in on a 05 GW, dealer only gave $3500 trade in for it, considering that the average sales price there is $2k over MSRP, that means basically they got the bike for free. Heck of a profit if they sell it for that. Guess they need the money for the new building they moved into last month.

BTW, Redwing, the girl was pretty, but not that pretty.
