I took the advice on this forum of lightly 'tapping' on the float bowls to free up float needle/valves, due to hiccuping/fuel starvation. Unfortunately, i seem to have unseated the float bowl on #3 carb, causing a vacuum leak. On inspection, it turns out that the closest accessible screw securing the float bowl won't actually tighten up properly. I removed it, and it looks like there was thread lock put on, which has caked on the middle threads. Should i replace the screw/lock washer and see if it helps, or is it likely the threads on the carb housing are stripped (no signs of thread wear on the screw).
